Timothy McGowan

mcgowan

Timothy McGowan is a lyric tenor known for offering “dignified” performances with “sweet
phrases,” and “lively gusto.” He has acquired international performance experience with credits ranging from traditional opera, and sacred music to contemporary works, and American Musical Theatre. Timothy holds a Master of Music degree in Voice Performance from the College of Fine Arts at Boston University. He has held faculty positions at Capital University (OH), Eastern Illinois University, and Millikin University (IL). Members of his private studio have garnered accolades in the Music International Grand Prix Competition, the Clara Schumann International Vocal competition, and the Opera Tampa D'Angelo Vocal competition. Mr. McGowan has former students now continuing their vocal training at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, and Baldwin Wallace Conservatory. Often reflecting on ways to demystify his role as a voice teacher, Timothy acknowledges that there are numerous, highly effective ways to train the voice. In his practice, he continues to
hone the distinction between the art of singing and the process of building a functional
instrument. Timothy has found the coordination of mind, body and voice to be essential in
working with nature's laws governing the vocal mechanism, and the acoustic properties of the unamplified voice. For more information, including Mr. McGowan’s schedule, detailed performance credits, and professional materials, please visit his website at Timothymcgowantenor.com.
